In 2024, demand for coding professionals remained steady, though it showed a slight downward trend over the year, with live postings peaking in February at 10,278. Job seeker interest was at its lowest at each end of the year and its highest in July. This pattern was also present in 2023, which indicates that the start of 2025 is a great time to apply for a new role with increased job postings and reduced competition.
Job demand vs
applicant volume
57.12% were listed on Adzuna as hybrid/remote and 42.88% on-site. In 2025, the hybrid working model for software developers is expected to be characterised by a blend of flexibility, technological integration, and a focus on outcomes over physical presence. Organisations that adapt to these trends are likely to see enhanced productivity, employee satisfaction, and project success (Codestringers, 2024).
